Real Brick, Rock, Stone and Steel Mailboxes are Illegal

The county's Traffic Safety Advisory Committee has been working for several months on two sets of regulations that would address safety concerns raised by mailboxes considered dangerous because of their size, weight, rigidity or location.

Such boxes typically feature materials such as concrete, brick, stone or steel that can pose a heightened safety risk for drivers who run into the roadside structures.

Bob Johnson, commission chairman and a former insurance executive, said the county should do all it could to prevent serious injuries from accidents.

"What we're talking about is safety," he said. "We're talking about people's lives. We're talking about doing the things we can do to make it safer on our roads.

Some Municipalities Are Moving To Ban Trendy Brick Mailboxes Because Of Danger To Cars And People.

Brick mailboxes, the latest in suburban status, are cropping up across the counties, but some townships would like to see them go. Supervisors are drafting a law banning the structures because of the potential hazard they pose to cars and people. In many Townships, the mailboxes have been illegal for several years and don't even think about putting one up in Texas, Florida, Montana and many other states they're outlawed. It is estimated between 70 and 100 people are killed annually when their vehicles strike mailboxes, according to the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials.

Homeowners Liable For Mailboxes

You may want to check with your insurance company because if you install a real brick, rock, stone or steel mailbox and someone is injured or killed, you can be sure, you will be sued. and your insurance will not cover it.

Conclusion

Although Real Brick, Rock or Stone mailboxes are appealing, they are also dangerous and could cost you a lot money and grief, if someone should run into it. The thought of someone being hurt, disfigured or even killed because of a mailbox I placed in front of my home, is not something that I would want to worry about nor live with.

Curbside Xpressions has the solution to this problem, its easy to install, it looks and feels real and best of all, if someone should hit it with a car, it wont hurt them and you don't get sued.
